2025 Bryggman Fund grant of €7,500 to Tien Yi-Chiao

The 2025 Bryggman Fund grant of €7,500 will be awarded to Interior Architect SIO Tien  Yi-Chiao (b. 1991) on 11 September 2025. Tien Yi-Chiao is an industrial designer and interior architect and a founding member of Studio D-ja. Yi-Chiao’s work is characterised by its multidisciplinary nature and her talent. Solutions that balance creativity and cost-effectiveness are important to her, as is sustainable design, which is demonstrated very well in the application.

Interior Architect SIO Tien Yi-Chiao graduated in 2020 as an interior architect from Aalto University, School of Art and Design, and prior to that, in 2015, she graduated as an industrial designer from Shih Chien University in Taiwan.

Yi-Chiao has produced a wide range of designs for both Finnish and foreign companies, including industrial design, textile design, exhibition design, interior design and furniture design. She has also participated in many competitions and has often been awarded.

 

 

 

 

SIO wants to help a young and ambitions designer establish herself in Finland.
The grant is awarded for the work plan: Circular Aesthetics: Developing TEX-Lamps and A Sheet of Table for Global Launch Expanding Sustainable Design from Helsinki to Milan 2025–2026

The aim is to develop and launch the Tex-Lamps paper lamp collection that utilises recycling and the coffee table collection, A Sheet of Table, designed for Durat for both indoor and outdoor use and in a number of colours.

The launch is in Lokal Gallery on 19–31 August 2025. Design Talks & pop up Design Week 6–7 September 2025. Salone del Mobile, Milan 2026, 21–26 April 2026.

The jury praises the international approach, the commendable and meticulous planning and the courage and sensitivity that the extremely well-prepared application demonstrated. Finnish local production had also been taken into consideration well.

The grant will be announced on the Habitare Fair stage at the Helsinki Exhibition Centre, Messukeskus, on 11 September at 3 pm. We wish media representatives a warm welcome to the award ceremony.

Interior Architect Carin Bryggman and Professor Erik Bryggman Fund’s grant is awarded on alternate years to a member of the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA) and the Finnish Association of Interior Architects (SIO) under the age of 35. This year’s jury included: Chairperson Interior Architect SIO Riikka Manninen, Interior Architect SIO Lars Räihä, Interior Architect SIO Mari Sonntag and Architect SAFA Tuomas Martinsaari. Minna Borg acted as the secretary of the jury.
