Lecturer in Spatial Design

The position is available at the University Teacher or University Lecturer level in the Aalto University lecturer track system. The position is full-time and, depending on the positioning in the track, either fixed-term or permanent. Your role and goals

You will teach mainly at the BA-level but occasionally also in the Master’s Programme in Spatial Design, guiding and assessing student assignments and thesis work. You will also take part in the student admissions. In addition, you will participate in the development of education, research and artistic activities and in different projects of the Department of Architecture. Part of your work time can be allocated to your own academic activities and/or artistic work.

Your network and team

The staff at the Department of Architecture consists of leading practitioners who have active careers in design projects, architectural competitions and exhibitions. Many of the design works have been largely published internationally. You will be working in a team of two professors and three lecturers in Interior Design, plus research staff and students. In addition, you will occasionally be collaborating with other professors and staff of the department and university.

Your experience

You have a master’s degree in Interior Architecture, Architecture or some other relevant design field. You have professional experience in the field and have an artistic approach to support your teaching. You have an experimental, practice-based orientation to teaching and learning. In addition to experience and good teaching skills in higher education, we appreciate candidates who have completed pedagogical studies. You are fluent in English and Finnish, and Swedish skills are an advantage. You have good communication skills, team-work abilities and preferably international experience and a professional networks.
